Had a maytag bravos for 6 years. Broke down 3 times and did not clean cloths well. Wife hated it. She absolutely loves her speed queen. Old school reliability and easy to use. Cut our cloths washing time in half.

I am mostly very happy with unit. It is a bit noisy. I don't like that the control dial doesn't move during the cycle. Biggest negative is putting in detergent. Really would like a place to put pods or liquid detergent in.

I've owned my Speed Queen dryer for almost a year now. Several months ago we noticed the dryer took hours to dry a load (even small loads of lightweight items). We had it serviced and the heating element was replaced. That was a couple of months ago and it has already failed again. Clothes dry faster when we hang them to air dry than they do in the dryer. This dryer is worthless. We are hoping that this was just a faulty appliance and not indicative of the line or brand, and hope that they will replace the dryer. We invested more money in this washer/dryer based on the reputation Speed Queen has. It is my hope that they will do the right thing, stand behind their product and replace the dryer.

This machine cost a bit more than the competition, but I was sick and tired of replacing the washing machine every five years. When my last unit kicked the bucket due to a bad transmission, I'd had enough. Turns out the TC5 has a 15 year warranty on the transmission! Something about no plastic parts in there. Yeah, it was spendy. But I went ahead and bought the Speed Queen.
I picked this model because it has fewer features, fewer sensors, fewer electronics than almost anything out there. It's Grandma's washing machine. And Grandma's washing machine has been working perfectly for 30 years.
I was concerned about reviews that mentioned the high noise level. Turns out it's quieter than the dryer (not a Speed Queen - yet). Also it runs for so short a time that it's done before I notice.
I was also concerned that the competition has twice the basket size of the Speed Queen. But it turns out you can only fill the other brands' baskets 1/3 full. The Speed Queen makes full use of every cubic inch. If you can stuff it in there, you can wash it. I washed my King Size down comforter in this bad boy. Never could do that with the old 5.5 cubic foot unit. Worked fine with the Speed Queen, and the comforter came out completely clean and free of stains.
I love love love my Speed Queen. Would not even consider another brand.

Such a wonderful surprise to find clothing clean the first time washed and not tangled in unmanageable knots. Laundry is no longer a drudgery that takes hours to complete and frustration that clothes have to be rewashed to be clean. In addition, all clothes are thoroughly wet not just on the underside. So glad to have made the decision to purchase a Speed Queen. An added bonus was the local merchant selling this washer....truly a step up in customer service and from what we can determine, quality.

My husband researched extensively when we knew we were going to purchase a washer so we were excited to find great reviews on the Speed Queen. We bought one and within six months we had many articles of clothing ruined by permanent spots that would appear and could not be removed. It looked like the imprint of the inside if the tub on the clothing. I called where we purchased it and a tech came out. He couldn't find anything and told us to change how we load the washer (which we were already doing) and the order of adding soap. We did this and it helped some but other clothes still got ruined. I called again and the manager came out. Even though we were still having the same problem after following recommendations, they wouldn't do anything. Disappointed that this washer was not up to par and I have had trouble out of it when we never did with any other washer that we have ever had and had washed the same way for 30 years (until the suggestion to change when the soap was added was given with this one). For this washer to be so heavy duty I feel it shouldn't be so sensitive to a process to wash clothes! But we do it so it minimizes damage.
The drum is smaller than any other I have ever had so I can't wash comforters which is a challenge when they need to be done.
The plus side is that there isn't much electronically to fail so hopefully that will last longer.

Very loud and has electronic issues within a few months of purchase. Has only 2 water level settings. Must choose extra rinse or small amount of low suds detergent won't rinse out. Expected far better machine for the high cost I paid.

It washes great & fast but it is very disappointing how it causes suds so bad in the drain that it backs up back into the drain box. If it isn't covered with a rag or something suds come into the box & down the wall & onto the floor. I've never had a machine to do this before.

Unfortunately we had issues with the knobs breaking on us within 6 months of purchase. While I understand something like this can happen the amount od difficulty it took to have someone come out to take a look order the parts and fix the issue was over a month from when we initially had the issue. Besides this issue the machine has performed well. Being a commercial pet boarding facility we rely heavily on this piece of equipment and this issue caused a lot of problems for us.

I'm very impressed with this washer. It may sound a little silly but it does exactualy what its supposed to do, and that's clean my clothes. I had another brand for 20 yrs and it was ok, but when I finally had to replace it I went back with that brand and hated it since day one. The very first washes with my Speed Queen whitened my whites and even took out some stains that I woudn't have thought would ever come out having been through several washes with the other machine. Some of the reviews I read said that this model was a little noisy, I haven't found that to be the case. The wash cycle doesn't take very long, and the spin cycle really gets the water out so it doesn't make the dryer work as hard or as long. I think this washer will see me out but if it doesn't, my next machine will be one exactly like it. It was expensive, but this is truly an example of you get what you pay for.

Did tons of research as I wanted top loader with an actual agitator that moves separately and landed on this washer everytime. It's worth the money so far especially for the warranty! My clothes are so much cleaner than they were with my older whirlpool impeller washer. And super quick too! Yes it uses more water. Yes it is not as "gentle" on clothes with an agitator. But I love that they are clean! Chose the classic clean over the fancier buttons and "perfect wash" that I see others complain about.

Had my Kitchen Aid washer for over 20 years. It was a perfect machine, but I guess nothing lasts forever. We researched a replacement, Speed Queen seemed to be the only company still making a good, solid machine that the company is willing to stand behind. The only complaint I really have is that you have to close the lid to fill the tub, so I can't rinse out the detergent and fabric softener cups. But I think it is well made, love that it has a decent warranty, and I'm very pleased so far.

After having a front load washer for the past 8-10 years, I am so impressed with how much better this machine cleans clothes than the front load. No more flip, flip, flip but a real agitator that actually washes the clothes. My only complaint....I am used to being able to choose individual cycles, i.e., just want to rinse and spin. With this machine, you have to complete a whole cycle each time. Also, would like to have had an owner's manual included with purchase.

Around 2016 I purshased a Wirlpool toploader. In 2018 they bought me out of the machine that was under a 5 year extended service coverage. I considered Speed Queen then but bought a GE top loader on a friend's recommendation. Her's was a pre-Chinese version, mine was made after the Chinese bought the GE appiance lines. The Chinese GE was a complete disaster. Home Depot repaired the washer 18 times under the 5 year extended service plan. I bought a TC5 about 2 months ago. Very satisfied with day-to-day use. The machine does everything it is advertized to do. Should have invested my Whirlpool buy-out dollars in a TC5 five years ago.
