2 design considerations need improvement

Overall the fridge does what it says. We have had it a month and there are 2 things about this fridge I would request require further consideration. The wide length drawer at the bottom of the fridge has a flap that you can lift to get food items in the drawer. However, if you do this, it separate the cover and you have to fit it back in. The only way to use this drawer is to slide it out and back in bc the cover is flimsy. Second, the ice maker is open and the ice constantly falls behind the maker and you have to crawl on the ground to get the pieces out. I think there is a better design for both of these.

French door MRFF4136RZ05

Bought the MRFF4136RZ05 to replace my Kenmore model 795.74105.811, which was made by LG. Kenmore only lasted 5 years. Hoping the reliability of this refrigerator is better. I marked this refrigerator down to three stars for the doors not being even (manual says they are adjustable by hex head screw in the bottom hinge pin but mine does not have) the water valve for the ice maker is loud, shelves on the doors are shallow, the freezer drawer do not roll smooth and the veg/fruit drawers are not smooth rolling as well. Like I said hoping for better reliability and I do like that it is assembled in the USA.

I would give it 0 stars if it was an option. I had the same bottom mount fridge for 20 years and it finally died. I liked it so much I bought the newest model. Huge disappointment. It is so noisy and cheaply made! the bottom mount handle is wobbly and I have made sure all the bolts are tight. The drawer rocks from side to side when opening like the hinges aren't connected correctly. I have had it for 7 months now and the ice maker no longer works. I have done all the troubleshooting requests and finally called customer service. After 30 minutes on hold I decided to do the live chat which basically ended in me scheduling a repair appointment online. How is it that they have scheduled a service tech from Huntsville Alabama to service my refrigerator in Jacksonville Florida. I hate incompetence!!!

We replaced a 20 yr. old white Maytag. The new frig is an exact duplicate, except the new has a water filter. We didn™€™t want a water hookup again, but all Maytags in French door have them. The new frig looks great and I would have given 5 stars, except for this: I had to use the deli drawer and freezer drawer dividers from the old frig. The new lacked any. We had to use the butter keeper from the old as the new lacked one! The water takes up space and we aren™€™t™€™ using a water hookup, so a waste of space. The new frig seems to run more and is noticeably louder at times. The frig was delivered by Lowe™€™s. The right door has a very small dent. Not noticeable thankfully. Lowe™€™s guys also didn™€™t check level or door alignment, which was ok when I checked. And they didn™€™t lock down the floor brakes. First time we opened the frig doors the frig came rolling toward us! So, I adjusted the floor brakes. Nice frig. Just hope it lasts as well as the previous Maytag.

Very happy with this fridge, love that the icemaker is inside and the front of the fridge is smooth and uncluttered. Magnets work too! My only issue is the doors swing open rather abruptly causing everything in the doors to rattle around. That may just be an adjustment required, haven™€™t had the time to read up on it.

Nice fridge with a few things I don't like.

Have the fridge for a month or so. It seems to be fine, but there are a couple of things I don't like. First, the freezer changes temp by 4-5 degrees every hour. It is set to -3°. But it swings from -2° to -7°. This is during the night when no one is opening the fridge or freezer. The ice maker is full so I've turned it off temporarily. In comparison, my LG fridge in my cabin changes no more than 1° in the freezer every hour. I am using an accurate graphing temp sensor to get these numbers. Second, the shelves seem a bit flimsy compared to my last fridge, a 13 year old LG French door model.

Finishing of the product is truly worse - some of the joints, hinges are not painted, and just left as is. The compressor does make a loud noise even when you have music playing, and it is worse when there is silence - not a quiet unit (just be prepared). Freezer compartment is not huge enough. Pictures vs. reality - totally different.

Ice maker stopped after first tray filled

The refrigerator arrived in good shape. The water line was attached, the first batch of ice was made. I emptied the tray and no ice has been made since. I rechecked the filter. Checked that the ice maker was turned on.and the water line is connected. I called support, but there was a 20 minute wait, so I used the live chat, which was totally useless. Now I have to schedule a service call for a brand new refrigerator

Maytag reliability made In USA and great warranty

I was in market for Fridge to replace Samsung garbage that died after 3 years. I wanted a brand that held up and would warrantee-the compressor. I started big research on linewent to big box stores for a Maytag as that was the made in Amman Iowa for de axes and still is. No box stores stocked them but all other brands had 1 year warranty at same time. I went to Maytag online l signed up account found my model. With discounts I could get it delivered in a week plus free shipping and haul away about 200.00 less then buying it at any box store. This was a great experience. We love the fridge no fancy high tech to go bad just what we need a good French door ice maker in freezer but most of all reliability and a 10 year warranty to suppose the most expensive part on fridge. We are pleased so far with everything from ordering it to the men that delivered it

I am giving this fridge a chance because our fridge of only 4 years died unexpectedly. So far, this Maytag is annoyingly loud when fan and compressor are operating. Also, the left hinge was installed a 1/4™€ too low at the factory. To fix alignment with right door, 2 nylon washer were used to adjust, but now the door won™€™t stay open. Freezer drawer hardware sometimes slightly misaligns, doesn™€™t instill confidence it will last. Well, at least it keeps things cold and makes ice. Not really impressed with craftsmanship.

Installed Feb 2025. Doors had to be removed to bring frig into kitchen. The right door does not seem to fit as well after reattachment, makes a small sound when opened that I cannot describe. Top of freezer drawer often has small amount of water on top of it. Fridge varies from absolute silence, to a hum, to a fan sound. Keeps veggies fresher longer than previous Maytag. Ice maker still working.

Love this fridge! Just what we wanted, and we like that the icemaker is inside rather than outside. Lots of room for everything, and freezer on the bottom is great. Pro tip: before you buy a new fridge, get a frozen turkey and place it inside when first powering up, which will bring the temperature down in about 3 hours, much faster than waiting 24!

Replacement for our 20 Yr Old Maytag refrigerator. This model does not have the features the old one did. The shelves do not pull out. The top of the freezer drawer is plastic and not metal. It is just overall lesser quality materials. On the positive side, it does have some electronic features that the old one didn't have: Door alarm, max cool for bringing in groceries, temperature alarm.

This model was shown as having internal water. I was disappointed I didn™€™t receive the one in the description. We bought the fridge on Dec 2 and it was finally delivered by Dec 26. Upon installation we noticed that the drawer is misaligned such that the right corner closes about one inch before the left corner closes. On top of it the fridge makes a very loud humming noise that we can hear even upstairs. Maytag what has happened to your stellar reputation of 20 years ago. This fridge looks nice but unless the issues are resolved I will never buy another Maytag product.

Great features and super quiet with huge capacity.

I replaced my 20+ year old appliance set with a complete set of Maytag appliances. I decided to go with stainless steel and boy has it given my kitchen a modern look, so beautiful. I really like the upgrade and new technology. I love this fridge. The glass and door racks are adjustable and allows you to conform your fridge to your liking. It works really well and I love the French door option as my old fridge had the one door and would require you to close it half way for someone walk by due to our center island. The pull out freezer door is perfect with big baskets and an additional pull out rack allowing you to easily see all your frozen goods. I also love that it has a door alarm so if you have kids it will alarm a charm letting you know a door has been left open.

Great BUT

Mine is beautiful and it hold a lot of food however it is a little loud when the compressor kicks in and it™€™s frequently kicking in.

No water dispenser!

I bought this fridge and it was delivered a month ago. I thought that I was buying a refrigerator with a water dispenser, however, upon arrival, the delivery person informed me that ™€˜some had the dispenser and some did not come with it™€™. I was disappointed that mine did not have the feature, and, if I had known this ahead of time, I would have changed my order. Since I live far from a store, I accepted the refrigerator. For the price, I feel that it should have had the water dispenser.

Nice looking refrigerator

So far, so good! I bought this refrigerator and it was delivered around September 13th. I™€™m a little disappointed because I thought that my refrigerator would have the cold water as well as the ice maker as that is what was shown in the pictures at Home Depot. Mine did not have the water. When asked about it , the delivery man said that some of the refrigerators had the feature and some did not.

Great Fridge

I bought this refridgerator about 2 months ago and have been very happy with all the features. I like the icemaker in the freezer which gives more room up top. Also, we do not need the filtered water feature inside or out as we have filtered water elsewhere in the house - this also gives more room up top (we had the door water/ice feature on the last fridge and rarely used it). The only reason I did not give this fridge a 5-star at this time is the icemaker does not seem to keep up with making ice even when the max ice feature is selected (we will be putting in a service request). The other issue we have had is the bottom freezer must be pushed shut all the way (our last french door fridge which was a Bosch glided closed w/ a single push) - we have found our freezer open on a few occasions and started to frost over or ice cream melt due to this (user error and not really the fault of the fridge/freezer) - we have since engaged the temp and door alarm features to try and help and also to be more aware of pushing completely shut.

Thankful for a new energy efficient fridge

I was delighted to receive this 36 inch French door fridge from Whirlpool/Maytag. The Max Cool setting is particularly helpful in the summer heat that we are currently experiencing. Given the cost of energy right now, the energy efficiency is an added bonus!
