™ 1 STAR ™" Extremely Disappointed With GE Customer Service and Case Manager Cortez I rarely feel compelled to leave a review like this, but my experience dealing with GE Appliances case manager Cortez has been completely unacceptable. I own a home filled with GE Profile appliances and have spent thousands of dollars with GE because I believed I was purchasing products from a company that stood behind its brand and its customers. After this experience, I am seriously questioning that loyalty. I contacted GE regarding an abnormal noise coming from my GE Profile Opal ice maker, which is still well within its warranty period. I spoke directly with Cortez on Monday and promptly supplied the documentation requested, including proof of purchase, model and serial information, photographs, and a video demonstrating the problem. Then™"silence. After receiving no meaningful update, I had to chase GE down myself, only to discover that my claim was apparently being held up because Cortez wanted a more zoomed-out photograph showing the entire back of the machine. Here™™s the problem: his original instructions did not say that. The request was for a picture of the back ™showing model and serial tag.™ I provided exactly that. If GE required a photograph showing the entire rear of the machine, that should have been clearly stated™"or Cortez could have simply contacted me and requested another photograph. Instead, days were wasted while I received no communication telling me anything was missing. I supplied the additional photograph as soon as I was able to do so and continued waiting. After still receiving no response, I called GE AGAIN. I was told I had to wait for Cortez because he was responsible for providing the next steps. When I finally reached Cortez, rather than acknowledging that his original request did not specify a zoomed-out photograph of the entire rear of the appliance, I found his attitude dismissive and unnecessarily argumentative. When I requested to speak with his direct supervisor, I was essentially told that a supervisor would contact me ™when they can.™ That is not the level of customer service I expect from GE. The issue isn™™t that GE requested documentation. I completely understand the need to verify a warranty claim. The issue is the lack of communication and the way this case has been handled. If something is missing, CONTACT THE CUSTOMER. Don™™t allow a warranty claim to sit while the customer unknowingly waits, and then act as though the customer should have understood a requirement that wasn™™t actually stated. I have done everything GE has asked of me. I™™ve supplied the documentation, responded promptly, followed up repeatedly, and spent my own time calling simply to determine what GE needs next. For a company whose products I have deliberately chosen throughout my home, this has been an incredibly disappointing experience. GE Appliances: this is not how you retain loyal customers. And Cortez, customers shouldn™™t have to repeatedly chase you down just to get basic communication about their warranty claim. I have requested contact from Cortez™™s direct supervisor and sincerely hope someone at GE takes ownership of this situation and demonstrates the level of customer service I expected from the GE Profile brand.

WIthin first year light LED light stopped working. Within 18 months pump died (out of warranty at one year). Icemaker would scream within the first year but was told this was normal and given non instruction ways of cleaning it with hot vinegar and priming the pump with your finger to try and get the weakening pump running again. Maybe I got a lemon but there's no way to find out since I'd have to drop anotherer $400 to find out and I don't think GE will help out since it's out of warranty.

This model is quite a bit better than the older model as it offers the metal scooper with holder. There is the addition of an air filter as well as a seperate replaceable internal filter which I™™m assuming will help with the longevity of the unit. I love the appliance but not looking forward to locating the replacement filters.

I love the ice maker. But the customer service is awful. It took forever to get my problem solved and my ice maker was finally replaced. I paid for an extended warranty but now it's worthless. So that was money down the drain. Once they replace your ice maker you only have a 3 day warranty.

I purchased this ice maker and received it 5/22/26. I has worked fine with perfect ice! Problem on day 2. It is so loud! Something is wrong on the inside. When researching issues it says buildup, tube blockage and hard water. That cannot be the reason since its brand new. I did the initial cleaning as the book stated, turned on and it started working fine. But after 2 days there is no way it could be build up. At first the noise lasted about a minute, now as I write this we are going on 10 min of noise, and its not just a little inconvenience, I will have to shut the machine off so we can sleep tonight.

The icemaker works well until it doesn™™t. The Customer Services is 99% horrifying! The need to sanitize and the scale weekly and sometimes biweekly is a real annoyance! The unit hook into a Wi-Fi system that G. E. Obviously follows which if you miss one of your sanitizing weeks, etc., your warranty is invalidated! I went through four returned units until I finally got one that has now worked for more than one month.

On my second one as the first opal I received only lasted 60 days before it starting screaming whenever it turned on. Was replaced under warranty. Have had my second unit less than 30 days. Is working but didn™™t even use for 3 days when the sanitize light came on. After 2 weeks it says it needs a new filter. I have a water softener and osmosis system so unsure why the unit constantly needs to be sanitized and a new filter so soon. I think the manufacturer needs to work the kinks out of these units. I enjoy the ice but am skeptical about how long this second unit is going to last. These should be perfect for the high cost

Purchased this and love the ice it makes, but my machine is now making a very LOUD grinding and knocking sound, like a weed eater and squealing pig. I have done all the routine maintenance and cleaning as the manual states with zero improvement. I contacted GR customer service and because it was just over one year old, they refused to do anything about it. Very poor quality and even worse customer service!

This unit is my third GE countertop ice maker. The unit appears to have many upgrades. The scale inhibiting filter, air filter, and enhanced control panel. I use nothing but distilled water in my units and follow the cleaning instructions on a monthly basis. We will see if this unit makes it more than 18 months.

The design and performance was really complete in the beginning. However, the lighted instructions on the front were always malfunctioning. (ex. when it says needs more water, the reserve tank was full. Then when says making ice was not. Says to sanitize when I sanitized a week before as the instructions said with new filter. The capacity and noise level was just fine for us.

I have been begging for an Opal Ice Maker. I finally bought the Opal 2.0 Ultra and it was so loud that I sent it back. The fan ran non-stop on the unit I received. I call customer service and was told that they are made to run constantly to keep the ice from melting. It was so loud I could hear it running from the other side of the house. I was very disappointed in this ice maker.

This is my second opal ice maker, the first one was destroyed along with my house by a tornado. I really love my opal ice maker! Makes the best chewable ice, better than Sonic's ice. I noticed my second unit has some improvements, glad to see them. The only negative I can say is if you don't have counter space to place it by a sink to drain it, be prepared to pick it up, it's a bit heavy.

Don't waste your money. Two of these units in approximately 18 months have failed! The first failed after only a few months and he replaced it with a new unit. About a year later that unit has failed. I love the ice this unit made but I am convinced there is a design flaw. Read the reviews! Not just the reviews made when new....read all of the reviews and you will see that these machines are prone to failure. GE needs to stand behind their product!

This is the second one we purchased. I bought it from Best Buy and got the extended warranty, which I suggest everyone considering this ice maker gets. The manufacturer warranty was one year, and two months after the warranty expired, it quit. So the extended warranty kicked in, and we were able to get another one under that warranty. As for the operation of this ice maker, it works Great, and the production is fast. As long as you get the warranty extension, it™™s a great buy. Otherwise, you run the risk of the manufacturer warranty expiring and you™™re out several hundred dollars. This is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5.

Well I finally bit the bullet and purchased this ice maker. Took the first one back for an exchange because of the noise level, it squealed so very loud. The second one did the same thing after just two weeks. VERY loud. Then I contacted GE and they were able to ship a new ice maker; I sent the second machine direct to them (GE). Well two weeks later the ™new™™ 3rd machine is making the same squealing noise, and it already wants me to sanitize the machine. We are not happy with our decision to purchase this ice maker. We love this ice nuggets and how fast it produces the ice we just don™™t love the noise this machine makes especially at 2:30 AM.

This is our second one. The first one had to be returned because it made extremely loud, whining noises. We returned that one and they sent this one. This one also whines and makes loud and grinding noises. We now know that it is due to the float valve not functioning correctly. Also , this does not make the chewable ice that we love but rather the ice is more like sleet. We are not impressed considering the money we paid caused us to have higher expectations. On the bright side, customer service during the first return was absolutely delightful.

Get what you can in under a year. Our Number 2 is failing after 6 months. And now they™™re refusing any warranty after the initial first year. We take all the precautions, distilled water, extra cleaning and sanitizing, wide open counter space. What is wrong is the pump is extremely undersized/powered and designed to fail. The ice making unit inside is too tight to the insulation. If you have 600 burning a hole in your pocket, and lots of spare time for a year, then you™™ll enjoy this doorstop.

Day 1 of having my new ice maker. Comparing it to the original Opal, I will say that this one is much quieter. Which owls what I wanted. After 5 years, our original finally stopped making ice but not before it started making horrible loud noises. I like that this newer model is much quieter and a bit smaller. However, the downside seems to be that the water reservoir is smaller. Day one and the tank is already half empty.

Machine broke around two years ago monthly maintenance/cleaning was done. Still did not last. No help from the company. Huge expense with no fix or service.

So far the ice machine is doing great. Ice is really small. As far as the instructions i think they could be a little more detailed. But over all seems good

My son bought this for me for a Christmas present. Thinking since it was GE and that it was expensive that it would be a good reliable product. After 1 year it got really loud and looked it up and the compressor has to be thawed out. I have to do this weekly along with cleaning. Now after a year and a half it now just hums with no ice. This is a piece of junk and definitely not worth the money.
